Focus Chapters:
- 1 Kings 4
- Psalms 72
- Psalms 127
Standout Verse(s):
1 Kings 4:29-31, 34 NLT
God gave Solomon very great wisdom and understanding, and knowledge as vast as the sands of the seashore. In fact, his wisdom exceeded that of all the wise men of the East and the wise men of Egypt. He was wiser than anyone else, including Ethan the Ezrahite and the sons of Mahol—Heman, Calcol, and Darda. His fame spread throughout all the surrounding nations.
And kings from every nation sent their ambassadors to listen to the wisdom of Solomon.
Observation (s):
- God gave Solomon a gift of wisdom that surpassed that of any known man.
- Solomon remained in the domain that God had placed him but news of his gift spread to distant places.
His fame spread throughout all the surrounding nations.
- Rulers of these distant locations sent their ambassadors to Solomon’s domain dto learn from him.
And kings from every nation sent their ambassadors to listen to the wisdom of Solomon.
- Application:
Your gifts will make room for you. Solomon was blessed with immense wisdom. He did not have to leave his kingdom to make his wisdom known in distance lands. Instead, he operated in the position and location that God had placed him. Before long, others outside his domain heard of him and were drawn to him. These rulers of other nations then sent their ambassadors to Solomon to benefit from his gift.
Oftentimes we focus too much on our talents and how we (as a one-man team) can expand them beyond the domain that God has placed us. Remember that God will place you were you can fulfil your purpose and impact His people. If your purpose involves impacting others outside the domain that God has placed you, He will orchestrate it so that your gifts make room for you in other domains. Like Solomon, if you function faithful within the domain that God has placed you, others will hear of you and be drawn to you through your gifts. Trust God and don’t rush the process!
