I will wait for you

waiting

For the past few weeks, much to my chagrin, I’ve found myself in a couple of conversations that run along the lines of:

Person: Hi!

Me
: Hey what’s up long time don’t seen!

Person
: Girl, you nuh married yet? When you planning to tie the knot?

Me
: *speechlessness*

OR

Random Person: Girl you so busy chasing you career, yuh no want a man?

Me
: Obviously I am sporting a “I NEED A MAN” sign that I’m not aware of.

It seems persons are under the impression that this is the 1800s and so, if at 23, I don’t have a man in the wings or I am not preparing to get married and heralding the bells, I am weird and abnormal.

Well, if I am required to choose someone in this day and age because I am expected to, I will pass. I have no wish and little desire to waste my time, energy, spirit, mind and heart on a boy who has no idea what he wants or where he is going. I have been there and done that! Most importantly, I have no wish for a Mr. Luke Cold/Warm, a young man who is chasing everything but God. If this is the male I must choose to fulfill the status quo, I am proud to say, I WILL PASS.

Who I will wait for is a young man who is chasing Christ. He, I can be confident, will lead. Who I will wait for is a young man who speaks to my heart in a language that my soul understands. Who I will wait for is a young man who knows what he is about. He, I can be confident, will know where he wants to go and with whom and I will have no problem or worry in investing the time and energy to ensure he gets there.

Until he finds me, I will ensure my life is filled. I will pursue the things, causes and dreams worth chasing. I will laugh with the friends worth keeping. I will remain fulfilled. So when I do meet him, in me he will find his woman of Proverbs 31 and as we grow together, I, too, will be worthy to be called his missing rib.

In this, I don’t mind the wait because both he and I will be worth it.

  1. Lol bit funny I saw a post recently where it said the longer men wait the more likely they’re gonna have to settle for a woman that already has a child. Reading this just brought tha back to memory lol. In a serious note though when its your time it’s your time no need to rush.

Hi, I`m Chañel. I used to be a people-pleaser who gave 200% because of my love for people. As a result, I almost lost my mind and my life. Today, my goal is to make sure people stop putting themselves last. And, if possible, never experience what I went through!
