Focus Chapters:
- Job 22-25
Standout Verse(s):
THE ACTION
Job 23:8-9 NLT
I go east, but he is not there.
I go west, but I cannot find him.
I do not see him in the north, for he is hidden.
I look to the south, but he is concealed.
THE REACTION
Job 23:10-11 NLT
“But he knows where I am going.
And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.
For I have stayed on God’s paths;
I have followed his ways and not turned aside.
Observation (s):
- Since the beginning of his situation, Job has sought God’s presence, intervention and counsel without success. Job’s, one of God’s most loyal followers, life is in a mess and God, his defender and present help in times of trouble, has gone silent. Job state and sense of loneliness and rejection continues to expand.
I go east, but he is not there.
I go west, but I cannot find him.
I do not see him in the north, for he is hidden.
I look to the south, but he is concealed. - Despite God’s seeming absence, Job remains on God’s path. Therefore, he has the assurance that no matter his situation and test, he is on a path that is meant to refine and better him.
“But he knows where I am going.
And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.
For I have stayed on God’s paths;
I have followed his ways and not turned aside.
Application:
Job’s continued devotion to God in the midst of his darkest situation is quite inspiring. I don’t know if I could have done it! How we react when we can’t hear clearly or any at all from God is just as important as when we hear from Him constantly. Will you continue to follow the directions He had given you before it seems He had ghosted or will you stray? Your pure-as-gold future is dependent on the path you choose.
