Focus Chapters:
- Psalms 105-106
Standout Verse(s):
Psalms 105:19 NLT
Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the Lord tested Joseph’s character.
Observation (s):
- God purposefully tested Joseph’s character before leading him to the fulfillment of his dreams.
Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the Lord tested Joseph’s character.
Application:
Can God trust you to righteously steward your dreams if they are fulfilled?
There is a common saying that alludes to “how we behave when we have nothing is how we will behave when we have everything.” As the treasured son in his father’s house, Joseph was not ready for his dreams to be fulfilled, although God gave him teasers of what was to come. Can you imagine how the young man who declared his dreams of his father and brothers bowing before him would have reacted when they materialised after his brothers had sold him into slavery? God’s purpose to supply the needs of Israel would probably have never been fulfilled. Can you imagine how you would have reacted to someone who wronged you if God had not taken you through a season where you required forgiveness and had to learn empathy? God’s purpose for you to be an example to that person would probably have never been fulfilled.
Like Joseph’s journey from favoured son to slave to favoured slave to prisoner to favoured prisoner then ruler, second to Pharaoh, God takes us on journeys that are designed to test our character, giving us the qualities we need to righteously steward our fulfilled dreams.
The process is critical to the results. Trust it.
