Standout Verse(s):
Psalms 121:3-4 NLT
He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps.
Observation (s):
- God will not let you stumble.
He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber.
- Our security is guaranteed because God neither slumbers nor sleep.
Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps.
Application:
Even the best soldiers need sleep. For humans, the longest recorded time without sleep is approximately 264 hours, or just over 11 consecutive days. Although it’s unclear exactly how long humans can survive without sleep, it isn’t long before the effects of sleep deprivation start to show. After only three or four nights without sleep, we can start to hallucinate.
Isn’t it amazing that our God is not like humans! He doesn’t need sleep. He doesn’t slumber although He has been around for thousands upon thousands of years. It sure lends a feeling of security to know that the One who watches over us never slumbers, guaranteeing our safety every minute of the day. He is always alert and ready to guide us and protect us from all our stumbles. Oh, the love of Our Father! He stays awake so that we can rest in His security, knowing that we are covered and protected.
