Standout Verse(s):
Psalms 39:6-7 NLT
We are merely moving shadows,
and all our busy rushing ends in nothing.
We heap up wealth,
not knowing who will spend it.
And so, Lord, where do I put my hope?
My only hope is in you.
Observation (s):
- If there is no time in our schedule for God, all our busy rushing will be for nothing.
We are merely moving shadows,
and all our busy rushing ends in nothing. - We shouldn’t place all our focus on hoarding wealth when tomorrow is not promised to any man.
We heap up wealth,
not knowing who will spend it. - David’s hope was in God.
And so, Lord, where do I put my hope?
My only hope is in you. - Application:
Our riches and busy schedules count for nothing when our hope is not in God.
You spend approximately 12 hours (work, preparation and transit time) working each day. When you are not working, you are off undertaking some worldly cause. However, how is your spiritual life? How much time do you set aside for God? Is all your busy rushing dedicated to a result of nothing or have you placed your hope in God and dedicated some of that time to Him and the activities He has purposed you to undertake? When you make the time for Him, trust and believe that He will ensure that there is enough time to complete the necessary things of the world.
Are you a money hoarder? You spend so much time collecting money. Storing it away for tomorrow, when tomorrow is guaranteed to no man. When was the last time you trusted God to take care of tomorrow and put some of that hoarded money towards a cause He has purposed you to undertake?
Don’t let all your time and monetary investments amount to nothing. Put your hope in God. Choose your monetary and time investments wisely.
