Focus Chapters:

  • Psalms 92-97

Standout Verse(s):

Psalms 94:18-‬19 NLT

I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O Lord , supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.

Observation (s):

  1. The psalmist cried to the Lord when he begun to fall untentionally before the wicked. Due to His unfailing love, God supported him.

    I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O Lord , supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.

  2. God’s offer of comfort restored the psalmist’s hope and cheer, overcoming the doubts that filled the psalmist’s mind.

    I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O Lord , supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.

Application:

Slip is defined as unintentionally losing one’s footing. The psalmist unintentionally lost his footing as wicked and evildoers tried to overcome him. Similarly, we often unintentionally lose our footing as we navigate the negativity, wickedness and evildoers of our lives. The good news is that God is a constant support that will keep us standing despite the dark winds that try to blow us over. He, as our support, is willing to bear our weight and keep us upright.

I once experienced a stormy season in which I felt like all hope was lost. I felt downtrodden and beaten. Like the psalmist, my mind was riddled with doubts. There was nothing else I could do. For me, an independent person, this was a hard pill to swallow. In the midst of my despair, backed into a corner and overwhelmed, I cried out to God. And do you know what? He heard and supported me. As I stood in a corner, crying my eyes out heart, I felt a pair of arms wrap around me and I felt an overwhelming peace spreading through my soul for the first time in weeks. I was filled with hope and cheer, although the situation was not fully resolved. God restored me for the next few rounds and eventually I, through God’s protection and strength, overcame.

In seasons like that, it is hard to not acknowledge that my redeemer liveth. One thing is certain! God is a constant support when dark seasons try to weigh us down. As the songwriter says, “In sorrow, He is my comfort. In trouble, He is my stay. He tells me, every care on Him to roll…”

Hi, I`m Chañel. I used to be a people-pleaser who gave 200% because of my love for people. As a result, I almost lost my mind and my life. Today, my goal is to make sure people stop putting themselves last. And, if possible, never experience what I went through!
