Application:
During the 2018 FIFA World Cup, I came across the funniest meme ever. A German supporter taunted Brazil about their 7 nil loss. The Brazilian responded by pointing out Germany’s loss of 2 World Wars. The strange thing is that nobody pointed out that both these teams had lived to fight another day.
Since our youth, we have faced many battles and differing levels and types of persecutions/oppression. During these seasons, we often experience different feelings. At times, we are well-matched and we come out as overcomers, smiling. In seasons like this, we are on top of the world. Other times, we are evenly matched against our situations and though we get some bruises, we still come out as overcomers, bruised but smiling. Then there are the other times: the times when we are outmatched and faced with a season in which we are persecuted and sorely beaten! In these seasons, we become overwhelmed, like losers who would never make it to another day. Our reaction is to retreat to a corner to lick our wounds and mourn our loss
Psalms reminds us of an important fact. We have been knocked down. We have been sorely bruised. We have been battered. We have been wounded. We have faced persecution but we have never been defeated! No matter the heat of our previous fights, God has allowed us to live another day.
You are an undefeated champion, no matter the number of persecutions and battles that you have fought. Start behaving like it!
