The godless seem like a lush plant growing in the sunshine, its branches spreading across the garden.
Its roots grow down through a pile of stones; it takes hold on a bed of rocks. But when it is uprooted, it’s as though it never existed! That’s the end of its life, and others spring up from the earth to replace it.
Observation (s):
- To the natural eye, the godless seems to be prosperous and flourishing. They are green and lush. Their reach expands across the world.
The godless seem like a lush plant growing in the sunshine, its branches spreading across the garden.
- The reality is that the godless is planted on stony ground and thus, does not have deep roots. When the storm comes, the godless has nothing to anchor it and gets blown away, leaving nothing of itself behind to rebuild on. In time, others spring up to take its place.
Its roots grow down through a pile of stones; it takes hold on a bed of rocks. But when it is uprooted, it’s as though it never existed! That’s the end of its life, and others spring up from the earth to replace it.
Application:
As a young Christian, growing up, I cannot tell you how many times I felt envious of my peers who were non-Christians. They all seemed to be prospering and having a grand time at it! Their power was immense to my young eyes. They were popular and everyone wanted to be around them or be like them. Gosh! Even I wanted to be like those popular persons because I felt like they had it all. I can remember trying to integrate myself into their group and conversations but feeling like a big misfit.
I look back now at my teenaged years and realize that these popular persons were always surrounded by drama. They weren’t rooted and had to continuously keep up with the next fad to maintain their popularity. If they slipped up, that was it! They were banned from the spotlight or another took their spot. That must be exhausting!
I look around the world today and in many ways, it reminds me of high school on a wider scale. You have the popular kids: the celebrities, the politicians, etc. They are the people, everyone want to emulate. Yet sometimes, these are the ones who slip up or fall apart and are torn apart by the media before fading from the spotlight. They are the nine-day wonder that are tossed out and forgotten like yesterday’s trash as a new wonder takes their place.
I realise, I don’t want to be like that. I don’t want to be a fad, a season or nine-day wonder. I want to be rooted in Christ and live and leave a godly legacy that is worth remembering.

I can totally relate to this! I was pretty much the only Christian in my school and had a hard time fitting in. I am so glad that my life and identity is firmly rooted in Christ now though. Everything else is sinking sand!

Yes, I did. Last year, I had two challenges:
1. I started the Bible Challenge and made it to day 138 before quitting.
2. I hardly made any new posts
This year, I thought it would be a good idea to try the challenge again and have the blog hold me accountable ☺️. I mean what better way to ensure I read daily than knowing that my readers are awaiting the results? So far I’m enjoying the process. There is so much to learn and observe! My daily readings and contributions are also forcing me to see past and future events from a whole new perspective.
