Standout Verse(s):

THE ACTION

Genesis 7:5‭, ‬13‭-‬16‭ NLT

So Noah did everything as the Lord commanded him.

That very day Noah had gone into the boat with his wife and his sons—Shem, Ham, and Japheth—and their wives. With them in the boat were pairs of every kind of animal—domestic and wild, large and small—along with birds of every kind. Two by two they came into the boat, representing every living thing that breathes. A male and female of each kind entered, just as God had commanded Noah.

THE REACTION

Genesis 7:18, ‬23 and Genesis 8:4‭, ‬15-16 NLT

Then the Lord closed the door behind them. As the waters rose higher and higher above the ground, the boat floated safely on the surface. God wiped out every living thing on the earth—people, livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and the birds of the sky. All were destroyed. The only people who survived were Noah and those with him in the boat.

Exactly five months from the time the flood began, the boat came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.

Then God said to Noah, “Leave the boat, all of you—you and your wife, and your sons and their wives.

Observation (s):

  1. Noah followed God’s instructions, explicitly. In fact, the Bible stresses this by mentioning it twice.

So Noah did everything as the Lord commanded him.

    AND

A male and female of each kind entered, just as God had commanded Noah.

  2. God himself closed the door of the boat, ensuring the survival of all its habitants and death of all others. Despite Noah sending different birds on trial runs to find dry ground and the dove not returning on the final trip, he waited until God gave the command indicating that it was safe to leave the boat.

Then the Lord closed the door behind them.

    AND

Then God said to Noah, “Leave the boat, all of you—you and your wife, and your sons and their wives.

  3. Even as the water rose higher, the boat stayed on it’s surface. Eventually, the boat came to rest on the highest peak. The boat started low, rolled with the waves and rain and came to rest on top of a visible spot.

As the waters rose higher and higher above the ground, the boat floated safely on the surface.
    AND
Exactly five months from the time the flood began, the boat came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.

Application:

Obedience to God’s Word guarantees safety during heavy rains and high waters and positive elevated results at the end.

I must also recognize that my perception of timing and the safety of my environment should not be actioned without getting God’s perspective and directive. Noah waited a couple more months for God’s directive indicating that it is safe to leave his shelter, despite his perceptions of the existence of dry land. I should seek God’s direction before making any moves.

My safety, success, and future are dependent on this.
