“If the entire Israelite community sins by violating one of the Lord’s commands, but the people don’t realize it, they are still guilty. When they become aware of their sin, the people must bring a young bull as an offering for their sin and present it before the Tabernacle.

2. It is guaranteed that we will be made conscious of the sins unconsciously done and are called to make recompense before God.

Application:

There are many roads without visible speed limit signs. As we drive along those roads, sometimes we push beyond the limits without being conscious that we are breaking the law. Our unconscious lack of knowledge as it relates to the law stipulations along that road does not exempt us from paying the penalties of breaking the law. Sometimes, we are made aware immediately, when we are stopped and ticketed by the officers of the law. Other times, time may pass before we are made aware of the unlawfulness of the act. In scenarios like this, we are lucky to escape the relevant penalties.

God, in the spiritual realm, extends a similar principle as the lawmakers of our physical land. We are governed by spiritual laws and expected to adhere to them. Sometimes in the heat of the moment and due to a lack of knowledge, we unconsciously overstep the stipulated spiritual boundaries yet we are not excused. As citizens of God’s kingdom we are still held accountable for our actions. Unlike the physical realm, the spiritual realm is governed by an All-Seeing God who sees and knows all our violations of the laws of His land and charges us guilty. Sometimes we recognize our errors instantly when the Holy Spirit pricks our conscience. Other times, we recognize the err of our ways long after the fact. However and whenever we recognize our spiritual missteps, we are still expected to be accountable and acknowledge them before Our King.
