Focus Chapters:

  • Leviticus 7-8

Standout Verse(s):

Leviticus 7:12, 7:16 and 7:28-30 NLT

If you present your peace offering as an expression of thanksgiving, the usual animal sacrifice must be accompanied by various kinds of bread made without yeast—thin cakes mixed with olive oil, wafers spread with oil, and cakes made of choice flour mixed with olive oil.

“If you bring an offering to fulfill a vow or as a voluntary offering, the meat must be eaten on the same day the sacrifice is offered, but whatever is left over may be eaten on the second day.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. When you present a peace offering to the Lord, bring part of it as a gift to the Lord. Present it to the Lord with your own hands as a special gift to the Lord. Bring the fat of the animal, together with the breast, and lift up the breast as a special offering to the Lord.

Observation (s):

  1. There are three types of peace offerings that can be presented to the Lord: an expression of thanksgiving, a fulfillment of a vow and a voluntary offering.

Application:

I love heartfelt gifts! Gifts, no matter the size or nature, make me feel appreciated, seen and needed. I particularly enjoy when someone demonstrates appreciation for my efforts, fulfils a promise or surprises me. A gift, in essence, is unrequested and unbound by obligations and is generally presented at the pleasure of the giver.

The Lord considers peace offerings, special gifts that His people are under no obligation to give to Him. We are expected to give peace offerings to God not because we are required to do so but because it gives us pleasure to do so. Peace offerings come from the heart; whether it is from a heart of thanksgiving, fulfillment of a vow made from the heart or voluntary gift given from the heart. If I enjoy gifts so much, I can just imagine the pleasure the Lord feels when I extend to Him a gift of heartfelt praise and thanksgiving, when I deliver on a promise I had made to him or when I give Him an inspired voluntary gift.

The Lord gives us good gifts, how about we shift the shoe to the next foot and give Him special gifts from our own hands?

Hi, I`m Chañel. I used to be a people-pleaser who gave 200% because of my love for people. As a result, I almost lost my mind and my life. Today, my goal is to make sure people stop putting themselves last. And, if possible, never experience what I went through!
