“If a woman cannot afford to bring a lamb, she must bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons. One will be for the burnt offering and the other for the purification offering. The priest will sacrifice them to purify her, and she will be ceremonially clean.”
Observation (s):
- There is no one size fits all situation. Even with sacrifices, God recognized that not everyone would be able to give at the same magnitude. He placed measures in place to account for this.

Application:
A few years ago, I led a customer survey and faced an interesting problem. Despite my target audience consisting of a mixture of persons at different organizational levels, I grouped everyone under the label “customer” and designed the survey experience as such. Everyone would get the same survey content, offers and communications!
During the survey’s execution, we received mixed feedback from survey participants. Persons below the C-level suite welcomed the incentive offered to complete the survey while the C-level suite indicated that they felt insulted by the offer and its amount. At the time, I did not have the experience or insight to recognize that for such audiences with numerous sensitivities, levels and differing situations, it was not okay to utilize a one-size-fits-all approach. In retrospect, my approach regarding the incentive should have differed for the C-level suite.
Thankfully, our God in His infinite wisdom recognizes that He cannot use a one-size-fits-all approach to manage His people and base His stipulations, especially if He expects adherence. As such, He tailors His requirements and approach to target the needs and suit the resources of specific audiences.
God doesn’t want us struggling to go beyond our means. He certainly doesn’t want others who can fit the larger size to be forced to fit into a small size. He wants us all to have the perfect fit.
