Bible in 365 Days – Day 75

DAY 75

Focus Chapters:

  • Deuteronomy 13-15
  • Deuteronomy 16:1-17

Standout Verse(s):

Deuteronomy 13:4 NLT

Serve only the Lord your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him.

Observation (s):

  1. God wants us to listen to His voice, obey His commands and cling to Him.

    Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him.

  2. God wants us to fear and serve only Him.

    Serve only the Lord your God and fear him alone.

Application:

I recently received a call from a stranger who strongly believed I knew him. Following my thrice insistence that I didn’t know him, I quit listening and hung up the phone. The stranger called again and I ignored the call.

I have a friend who enjoys prank calling me at the weirdest moments. However, no matter what accent my friend uses or when he choose to do the prank call, I always recognize his speech patterns or mannerisms and call him out by name. If he refuses to quit joking, I would threaten to hang up. At that point, he would relent and tell me not to hang up and I would refrain from executing my threat. It was simple, I had a relationship with him and hence, recognized and listened to his voice and obeyed his commands. No matter how many times he has prank called, I was never tempted to change my friend. I cling to him. In fact, our relationship have stood for years.

Similarly, God wants us to have a relationship with Him. Through this relationship, He is able to speak to us and we will listen His voice and obey His commands. Until we have a relationship with God, we will not be motivated to serve and fear only Him or cling to Him. What is your relationship with God like?
