For forty years I led you through the wilderness, yet your clothes and sandals did not wear out. You ate no bread and drank no wine or other alcoholic drink, but he provided for you so you would know that he is the Lord your God.
Application:
When we hear the word “wilderness”, we often envision something vast and unending. Almost like the 40 year period that the Israelites wandered through their wilderness! However, persons’ wilderness experiences and season duration varies. Have you ever gone through a season in which you don’t know how you are going to pay for a school semester but things work out and you are able to pay for that and all semesters? What about seasons in which it does seem possible for your salary to cover your cost of living yet it covers everything month in and month out? How about the season when the car’s gas tank should have been empty but it kept going until you got paid? What about the season when the doctor gave up on you but you are still here today? If you had any of these experiences, you need to give God some thanks for sustaining you. These are all wilderness experiences in which God provided for you and maintained your necessities; sustaining you until the season came to an end.

So true. The wilderness is hard but the results tend to be phenomenal!
