Standout Verse(s):

THE ACTION

Genesis 25:21, 22 NLT

Isaac pleaded with the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was unable to have children.

But the two children struggled with each other in her womb. So she went to ask the Lord about it. “Why is this happening to me?” she asked.

THE REACTION

Genesis 25:21, 23-24 NLT

The Lord answered Isaac’s prayer, and Rebekah became pregnant with twins.

And the Lord told her, “The sons in your womb will become two nations. From the very beginning, the two nations will be rivals. One nation will be stronger than the other; and your older son will serve your younger son.” And when the time came to give birth, Rebekah discovered that she did indeed have twins!

Observation (s):

  1. Issac interceded on his wife’s behalf when she had difficulties conceiving. We should be willing to intercede on behalf of our family members and those close to us. Issac’s act also demonstrated his role as the second half of the wedded whole. His wife’s problem was his problem and he was willing to do whatever he could to solving it. In this case, his best option for infertility was talking to God.

    Isaac pleaded with the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was unable to have children.

  2. When Rebekah experienced the internal struggle of the twins, she consulted God to determine the issue. When we experience internal turmoil and troubles around us, we should not make decisions or draw conclusions without consulting God.

    But the two children struggled with each other in her womb. So she went to ask the Lord about it. “Why is this happening to me?” she asked.

  3. God gave Issac and Rebekah double for their trouble. They went from being childless to having twins. Your present trouble will unfurl into a future double blessing, when you seek God for the solution.

    The Lord answered Isaac’s prayer, and Rebekah became pregnant with twins.

Application:

If you are anything like me, sometimes you get caught up in thinking you know the best solution to every problem. If you are like me, you find out, often, that you are wrong when nothing happens the way you expected and you end up having to consult God anyways. Let God be your Plan A not your Plan Z. Be like Rebekah, who consults God, instead of relying on her understanding. Be like Issac who interceded on his wife’s behalf. Intercede on your family and friends behalf.

Consulting with God is a sure way to a “double for your trouble” type of blessing. Resolution and blessing is bound to occur, not by your power but by God’s.
