It is time to leave your comfort zone

Helping

A year ago, I reached a place where I felt like I wasn’t growing.

I felt like I wasn’t going anywhere. I felt stagnant. I had dreams and visions in mind but I saw no fit manner to achieve them. I was doing so much but I felt as though what I was reaching for was always just outside my reach and no matter how far I stretched, my aim always eluded me. I had grown stagnant in my professional, personal and spiritual life and this stagnancy sucked me in almost as though I was standing in quicksand.

It is strange but have you ever noticed that when you have worn out a plot of land, you have to leave it for another plot and give it time to recuperate? It is the same with life. Sometimes we have to leave our comfort zone, what is familiar to us, and move afar from the shore. I was just reading of how the disciples of Jesus left their comfort to pursue a ministry that was hard and it is for this that they are remembered, for this that they gained the greatest prize of all, salvation.

What if Matthew had dug his heels and kept to his job as a tax collector? He would have been remembered as the “thief” in his time and forgotten after that. What if Peter had stayed in his boat on the seas where he was comfortable? He would have missed the chance to deliver one of the greatest messages ever at Pentecost. What about Luke and James and John? They all had to leave the space where they were comfortable and step out into discomfort to win.

You have to leave your comfort zones. It is no longer okay to do the same old thing because it’s what you have always done. Does what you do cause you to glow when you think of it? Are you happy with where you are? Do you still manage a silly grin when you think about who you are with? Do you have a list of things that you have wanted to do for years but have never gotten to it? Are you satisfied with your life? Or do you accept it because it has become routine. It is time to move or do something out of character. Are you always a “yes” person? Say no for a change. Get up from you comfort zone. You won’t regret it. I promise you.

Great things never came from comfort zones.

    1. That is so true Melanie. What we can dream is sometimes only a piece of what He has in store of us. In order to get our inheritance, we have to just move
