The foundation of the Lord’s Temple was laid in midspring, in the month of Ziv,during the fourth year of Solomon’s reign. The entire building was completed in every detail by midautumn, in the month of Bul, during the eleventh year of his reign. So it took seven years to build the Temple.
Solomon also built a palace for himself, and it took him thirteen years to complete the construction.
Observation (s):
- Solomon started the work on God’s Temple first before building his palace.

Application:
Persons prioritize what is important to them. The problem occurs when Christians continually put personal matters ahead of godly matters; only handling God’s business with the remainder (if any) of their time, energy and resources.
Solomon, a young nation ruler and king, demonstrated that he valued the Lord and the Lord’s matters. He chose to finish God’s critically assigned work over immediately establishing his palace, a majestic symbol of Solomon’s physical status. Solomon prioritized the building and establishment of the symbol of God’s presence in his and his people’s lives. In due season, the palace, the symbol of his status was also built.
Despite the rigours of our daily lives, God wants to assign us missions that establish His presence and benefit His people. Can God trust you to prioritize the matters concerning Him? Will you make Him a priority?
